I wanted this bit of the site to cover eco-friendly products, but then gave it some thought and decided that ‘green consumerism’ is actually a contradiction in terms, so I’ve abandoned that idea. The notion that extracting oil, moulding it into a bit of plastic, packaging it then shipping it halfway round the world can in any way be kind to the planet is blatant rubbish, much like many of the products that come out of the manufacturing process.
The most we can hope for, I think, is that the end product serves some minor sustainable purpose. Lets face it, none of us are going to save the planet by using a solar panel or other touring gadget, but it can make life a bit easier when we’re on the road. So, this is the basis I’m using for the stuff I give webspace to.

Anyway, I thought I’d share some of my experiences of gadgets on these pages, plus mentioning interesting new stuff that’s around. These little bolt-ons to the tour that can liberate or irritate, often in equal measure….
